rock emerged as a reaction against what had come before. The early punks
assumed that hollow greed had destroyed the American music, and hated the apparent
bombasity and egotism of the biggest ensembles of the 70s. It appeared in
London and New City, with many local centers by the end of the year when
performances like Ramones and Patti Smith saw unique achievement for their defiantly
anti-mainstream genre. this was the British ensembles known as the Clash, though,
that became passionately renowned, more so in the United Kingdom than that od
in the United States and set the stage for acceptance of rudiments of punk in
renowned music in the 80s.
