Mohammad Hashem Zamani was born on in the year 1928 and he died on the 10th June, 2005. He was a popular poet from Afghanistan.

Hashem was born in the year 1928 in the village of Lamattak, Kunar in Afghanistan. He was the son of Mir Zaman Khan.
Hashem finished his primary school at bthe local mosque. He was 16 when him along with over 100 members of his family were imprisoned at the Deh Mazang prison that is in Kabul, under the pretext of political imprisonment.
As he was in the prison, he met with and was highly influenced by the presence of the major person of the time like, Yaqub Khan Ghond Mashar, Sarwar Joya, Dr Mahmoodi and Ferqa Mashar Ghulam Nabi Khan Charkhi together with his family members. Hashem spent 1e3 year in prison and there he watched the death of about 28 members of his family because of many diseases and poor feeding. After spending 13 good years in the prison, Hashem and his family were released from the prison and were exiled for another 8 years.
In the later part of the year 1979, because of the invasion of the country by the Soviet Union, Hashem took refuge in Peshawar. He travelled widely and took part is several international conference. In the year 1987, he relocated to the United States and basedin the Bay Area of San Francisco in California.
In the face of huge ill health because of the 2nd heart attack and a stroke that he suffered in the year 1990 that made one part of his body paralyzed, Hashem kept on with his writing and publication. He wrote the second part of the ‘Scattered Flower’ as well as ‘The Injured Heart collection’ and the ‘Zindani Khaaterat’. He was working through his last life night on the second volume of the book that is presently being published, ‘Da Pohenay Inqilab’.
Hashem died because of his heart attack on the 10th June, 2005. He died in Hayward Ca at the age pf 76. His body was oved to his country and buried in his native Kunar region.

Academic Life
Hashem wrote his first poem while he was in prison. The poems he wrote were assembled in the collection that he called Zandani Ehsas, which means The Emotion of Prison. His articles, creative pieces and his poems has been widely published in many publications of the country, like the Tolo-i- Afghan, Baidaar, Anees, Hewad, Islah, Wranga, Sistan and Etifaqi-Islam.
