Massoud Nawabi

Massoud Nawabi was born in the year 1954 in Afghanistan and died in the year 2010. He is a poet, writer, director and cultural personality; he is the founder of Educational Committee for Afghan Refugees (ECAR), Afghan Cultural Center, Ghulam Habib Nawabi, the Chief Administrator of the Afghan Ibn-e-Sina University and the Principle of Ariana Mahajir High School. Nawabi was the son of Ghulam Habib Nawabi. He was the last of the great Persian poet abd he is among the first to make the introduction of the modern Dari poetry to the country.

Literary, Cultural and Personal Life

Nawabi was born to an intellectual and educated family in Kabul. He was popular for his literary criticism and his cultural work. He had several scholars and most of them are writers and poets. He wrote several topics, contents and published magazines and he also started and edited many literary journals.

Nawabi was one of the early script writers and feature writers for some drama serials and film in the country. He has a record of more than a thousand articles in various magazines, websites, newspapers, films and dramas in the country and also for the Ministry of Information and culture of the country.

Nawabi published more than 45 different books. The most famous book of his is known as Keshtzar Zahfaran, which was published in three thousand copies by Al-Azhar prints and publication that is located in Peshawar. The book gave the publication company a great market and as at June in the year 2010, the book has about a million copies that was published and marketed around the country, Iran and Pakistan. Nawabi never sold his book to the publication companies as he dedicated his book and gifted them. Besides his own books, he published about 38 books of his father Ghulam Nawabi.

Death

Nawabi died from a heart attack in PIMS complex Hospital, Islamabad – Pakistan on the 2^nd of January, 2010. His funeral was done on the afternoon of the 3^rd January 2012 by several poet, writers, government officials, journalist and admirers at the 500 Family Graveyard, which is located in Kabul.

Tributes, Memories and Anniversaries

In 2^nd January, 2011, Hakan Massoud Nawabi, the eldest son of Massoud Nawabi organized and hosted the first death anniversary of his father at the community center in the capital city of Pakistan, Islamabad.

Poets, authors, teachers, writers and high ranked officials as well as diplomats from the afghan embassy and students came together from various cities, which included Peshawar, Kabul, Herat and Islamabad to attend the first anniversary of Nawabi.
