The
accordion, fiddle, nyckelharpa and clarinet are among the very popular Swedish
traditional instruments. The instrumental genre is the largest one in the
Swedish folk music. During in the 60s, Swedish youth flashed an origins renewal
in Swedish traditional culture. Many incorporated Spelmanslag (traditional
artists’ clubs) and performed on normal radio and TV. They concentrated on the
instrumental polska music, with choral and influences from other folk genres
which become more popular since the 1990s. In the year 1970, the dansband culture
also started.
Swedish
music has also featured more new and pop influences. Based on the per capita
basis, Swedish is one of the world’s most popular exporters of well-known
music. Its extreme popular export is known as ABBA, which was a worldwide musical
occurrence. Another Swedish musician known as DeDe, was so popular in Japan in
the late 1990s that she encouraged a collectible doll. Sweden has also
traditionally controlled the music of Scandinavain setting, with Danes and
Norwegians paying attention to music in Swedish before the other cases. During
in the late 80s and in the early 90s, Scandinavian death metal ensembles became
very renowned with the international heavy metal community.
Sweden’s
main classic troubadour was known as Carl Michael bellman. Others include
Cornelis Vreeswijk, Evert Taube, Fred Akerstrom and Povel Ramel.
