Lucia is one of the Islands in the Caribbean; it is a place for numerous
vibrant oral and traditional customs. The music of the Saint Lucia is based on
the elements originated from the music of Africa, particularly the rhythmically
and the Western Europe dances such as the waltz, polka and quadrille. The
cuatro and banjo are the symbolic Lucian traditional instruments, particularly
the four-corded banjo which is known as the bwa poye. The festivity songs known
as djwe reveal the lyricism, and the rhythmic difficulty.

Kwadril
is the most essential of the Afro-Lucia Creole traditional dance. The music is
an essential part in Lucian traditional holidays and festivities, as well as
the good-natured rivalry between the La Rose and La Marguerites societies. There
is little western classical music in Saint Lucia, and the country’s renowned
music company is only nascent. There are small recording opportunities, however
live music and radio remain an essential part in Lucia culture. The renowned
