Elseid Hysaj

Elseid Hysaj was born on the 20 February 1994. He is a footballer from Albania. He plays the role of a defender of his club, Empoli in the Italian Serie B.

Club Career

Two months after the birth of Elseid his father, Gezim Hysaj moved to Italy, like many other Albanians in the 1990s searching for employment so as to take care of the family. Elseid grew up in Shkoder with his mother and his grandparents while his father was working a bricklayer in Italy. While working at the home of a football agent, Marco Piccioli, Gezim mentioned that he has a son who istalented in playing football, and he mentioned as well that his son was only 10 years of age. When Elseid turned 14, he moved to Italy where he was assessed by Marco and he attended trial for many clubs including Florentina and finally, he joined Empoli academy.

He played his first match for the teamon the 24th November 2011 in a match that was played against Florentina , Coppa Italia 2011/12 and the match ended 2-1 in favor of Florentina. Elseid played his first league match for the club on the 20th October 2012 in a match that was played against Virtus Lanciano. The match ended 3-0 in favor of Empoli, Elseid came into the match in the 67th minute of the game in place of Andrea Christiano. His club finished the season in the 4th position and qualified for the playoff in the two-legged rounds, semifinal and final. In the semifinal of the competition, the club played against Novara, and Elseid played full 90 minutes of the game in the 1st and 2nd leg of the game. The game finished 4-1 in favor of Empoli and that gave them the chance to play in the two-legged final against Livorno. The match was played and it finished 2-1 aggregate infavor of the opponent, Livorno. And Livorno was promoted to the Serie A for the 2013/14 season on a 2-1 aggregate. He finished the 2012/13 season for the club with the total playing of 35 games.

International Career

Hysaj played three games for the Under-17 national team of his country in the 2011 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship qualifiers on the 25th September 2010, in a match that was played against Norway, losing by 2-0, the match that was played against Ireland on the 27th September 2010, which they also lost by 2-0 and also the match that was played against Malta on the 30th September 2010 that finished 1-1.

He played his first match for the senior national team of the country on the 6ty February 2013 in match that was played against Georgia at the age of 18, and that made his the third youngest player of the team after Blendi Nallbani and Iljaz Çeço.

After his display in the national team of the country, he made a temporal move to the Under-21 national team of the country, as he was called to play in a friendly match against Austria on the 14th August 2013. He played two games for the Under-21 national team of his country.

Again he was called up by the head coach of the senior national team of the country, Gianni De Biasi to participate in a friendly match that was played against Belarus on the 15th November 2013. 

Three days after the game that was played against Belarus, he took part in a game that was played against Spain Under-21 for the 2015 qualifiers of UEFA European Under-21 football Championship, and they lost by 2-0. He played in the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers, on the 5th March 2014 against Austria and the game finished 3-1 in favor of Albania. The goals of the game came from by Enis Gavazaj, Vasil Shkurti and Herolind Shala, were Hysaj was in the game for the full 90 minutes.
