Arben Minga

Arben Minga was born on the 16th March 1959 in Tirana and he died on the 31st January 2007 in Windsor, Canada. He was a former footballer of Albania. He played the role of a central defender and a centre-forward for his club. He was nicknamed Big Ben, he was the 6-times winner of the Albanian title.

Club Career

Minga started his career in the Albanian Championship with the club, KF Tirana, which was called 17 Nentori, becoming well fashioned by the 1977/78 season. Together with Kola Augustin, Mirel Josa, Sulejman Mema, Shkelqim Muca, Bedri Omuri and Millan Baçi, Minga was a part of the club in the 1980s that won the four national championships and three national cups. In the early part of the 1990s, Minga relocated outside the country to play football for Romania from the year 1992 to the year 1994, though he went back to KF Tirana in the last 2 years of his career.

International Career

He played 28 games for the national team of the country. He played 20 european games for the national team and played for the national team of the country in 12 FIFA World Cup qualification games.

Personal Life and Death

After his football career, he went to Canada with his wife, Nora Goxhaj, a former professional basketballer, it was there that they raised two boys Gridi and Joni, and it was also there that he was diagnosed with a terminal sickness. Minga died on the 31st January 2007 of pancreatic cancer. The players that played in the 2006/07 Albanian superliga wore black amber in his memory
