The
reggae stage of Namibia has produced musician such as Ras Sheehama, Ngatu and
Petu who were performing since 1994, and Mighty Dreeds and EES who were
Namibian German based who were multi genre artists. In the beginning of 80s
band known as We Culture were established in Katututra and this bring the
Namibia’s first reggae band.

Another
ensemble followed known as Roots rebel, which based in Katurura area. The
independence of Namibian brought most of the Namibian populace that were in
exile back to Namibian and such bands include Young dreads later change their
name as Mighty Dreads, Ras Sheehama, Omidi d Afrique, Los Amadeus and Shem
Yetu. Most of these bands disappear and later form a group of Namibian reggae
musicians. Most of the Mighty Dreads band members left the band and later
formed formula band and also engaged into career of solo. Dancehall, Ragga and
Dub became fame and the singer such as Ngatu who is from the Mighty Dread,
Doren, Iron Roots and Ras Kasera that later came up with a new band combination
of Raggae dancehall. EES is respected in R&B, Kwaito and hip hop genres of
Namibia. Buju Bantuan who is also known as Katjoko, the late La Chox and
Kamasutra were the upcoming young reggae musician and Faizel MC who is the king of the jungle who
is also involve in the kwiku style and most of his song is based on love and it
is included in the Afrobeat.
Renowned
kwaito musician, Gazza has joined himself with the genre where he made a unique
good number of the reggae songs as well as Killa-B. It is also believed that he
is multi genre talented like EES and he has also experimented with hip hop,
R&B and dancehall.
