The New Zealand symphony orchestra is New Zealand’s national group and it was established by the Ministry for Culture and Heritage. The Auckland Philharmonia orchestra is the second New Zealand professional group. There are many semi-professional local groups presenting their own show series annually. These include the Opus Chamber Orchestra in Hamilton, the vector Wellington Orchestra, the southern Sinifonia in Dunedin and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (CSO).
