Likewise, the jazz has experienced rebirth in popularity. Original
movement was led by W.D.O.U.J.I (known as Witch Doctors of Underground Jazz
Improvisation) with their award winning independent release known as Ground
Zero, marketed by the now defunct N/A Records in the year 2002 and Tots
Tolentino which was led by Buhay jazz group on the year before that. This opened up way for others for later
attempts of most well-known of Filipino jazz super group known as Johnny Alegre
Affinity producing its movie debut album in the year 2005 under the London
based Candid Records. Mon David has also reached the rounds of the Las Vegas
music path. The present development is the combination of spoken- word and jazz
and rock, chiefly featured to Radioactive Sago Project. Other prominent names
of late include Bob Aves with his ethno-infused jazz, Akasha and The Jazz
Volunteers which have attached the new legendary underground jazz jams at
Freedom Bar for almost half of the 11 years of its stay.
Latino and Bossa nova music has been renowned since the 70s.
Artists like Annie Brazil were committed in the 70s, while more currently;
Sitti has been earning fume assessment for her bossa nova covers of renowned
songs.
There are has been a long booming underground reggae and ska
scene, mainly in Baguio City, and recently the genres have been accepted in the
mainstream. Acts like Brownman Revival, The Brown Outfit Bureau of Tarlac City
and Roots Revival of Cebu, Philippines have been promoting instrumental known
as Island Riddims. There is also an increasing mod renewal, spearheaded by Juan
Pablo dream and a large indiepop scene.
Electronic music started in the early 2000s in the Manila
underground. It became more important due to the Korean wave, which its musical
fame began in the country presently. Beginning of 2010, indigenous musicians
started to make electropop songs of them. Currently, most electronic songs are
used in commercials. The only radio station so far plays onlyh electronic music
is known as 107.9 U Radio.
