It is a relatively current sound in Portugal. In spite being an Iberian country, Portugal never had clear influences from Caribbean sounds. This pattern came to the region in the 90s, following a Spanish and world movement. Instances of Latin music singers in Portuguese are Mil i Mairia and Ana Malhoa.
