Namibian
music has a number of folk music as well as rock, jazz, house, pop, rock,
reggae and hip pop. The Namibian music awards and the Salam-NBC music awards
are the two different organizations that give out some annual awards during
shows on December and May. The Namibian society of composers and authors of
music (NASCAM) has supported the Namibian music within and outside the country
but in spite of that the Namibia music industry still remains immature and
there is no major record labels and distribution of infrastructure. The lack
production of economically viable music and absence of effective marketing and
distribution structures are the factors that affect the development of the
local music industry.
