The Marshall Island music has a long record. The Marshall Islands are an independent island chain, geographically and culturally part of the Micronesian region. This was part of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands ruled by the United States, until their independence in the year 1991.

The roro is a type of traditional chant, which is usually about the olden legends and performed to give guidance during navigation and strength for mothers in labour. The new bands have mixed the special songs of each Island in the country with new music.
However drums are not generally common in Micronesian music and one sided hourglass-shaped drums are the main part of Marshallese music.

The national anthem of the Marshall Islands is known as Forever Marshall Islands written by Amata Kabua.
