Ghazal music of Nepal

The Ghazal is a poetic type which is made up of the rhyming couplets and the refrain in which each of the line share the same meter. A ghazal may be seen as a poetic expression of both the pain of loss or separation and beauty of love despite that pain. It is an olden type which originated from the 16^th century Arabic verse. The ghazal has its coverage to the South Asia in the 12^th century due to the influence of Sufi spiritualists and the courts of the modern Islamic Sultanate. Though the ghazal is mainly obvious as a type of Dari poetry and Urdu poetry, now it is seen in the poetry of many languages of the Indian sub-continent. Motiram Bhatta brought the written type of Ghazal in Nepal language in 1890. Seturam Shrestha from 1891 to 1941 has been recognized as the pioneering ghazal music in Nepal and the custom of singing ghazal has been gaining fame in the last few eras.
