The Hits FM in Nepal was built in April 1996 with the purpose of helping the music industry to increase beyond what it was. Since then, the Hits Nepal Pvt.Ltd which is the main organizer of these awards has been greatly involved, giving supports and courage to Nepal musicians and music.

The award ceremony celebrated their 14th birthday presently with musicians awarded in 19 different groups which include the prestigious Life Time Achievement Award (awarded to a senior member of the music industry for their support for the development of Nepali music) and different performance where done by top Nepali artists.
