In the 1990s, a new generation of musicians discovered the so-known hip-life. The initiator of this pattern is Reggie Rockstone, a Ghanaian artist who experimented with hip hop in the United States before creating his special style. Hip-life basically was hip pop in the Ghanaian native language backed by the elements of the folk High-life. Ace music producer Hammer of the last two exposed musicians such as Ex-doe and Tinny who further popularized the hip life music genre respectively, hip hop has since multiplied and produced artists like Reggie Rockstone, Akyeame, Tic Tac, Obrafour, Kwaw Kese, Obour, Lord Kenya, Ayigbe Edem, Asem, Sarkodie and Sammi.
