the 20th century, the first secondary education institute in Belarus
was established in the year 1924 and the first operas (Mikhas Podgomy by E.
Tikotsky, in Virgin Forests of Polesie by A. Bogatryev and The Flower of
Happiness by A. Turenkov) and ballets (The Nightingale by M Kroshner).
The
famous Soviet Belarusian music was composed by many elite bands, several of whom
performed Belarusian music. The folk rock act Pesniary, formed in 1969 by
guitarist called Vladimir Mulyavin, became the most famous folk band of the
Soviet Union, and often toured over Europe. Pesniary’s example stimulated
Siabry and Verasy to follow their pattern.
The
Belarus tradition was centre in folk and folk rock music which continued today,
the late 1970s saw more straightforward rock bands like Suzorie.
