Mirwasm: Indonesia musical instrument

The mirwasm is a small double-sided hand drum that comes from the Middle East. The mirwas is a popular musical instrument in the Arab State of the Persian Gulf, and the instrument was used in sout and fijiri music. The musical instrument can also be found in Yemen.

Hadhrami migrants from the Yemen took the musical instrument to Muslin Southeast Asia, where the instrument is used in zapin and gambus musical genre. An analogous musical drum of this area is called the kendang.
