Mahagita Music of Burma

The mahagita translated as a great music in Pali, the Mahagita is an extensive ensemble of Burmese classical songs which is known as thachin gyi. The collection is divided into many kinds of songs which includes; kyo, bwe, thachin gan, the oldest list; pat pyo, royal court music; iwan chin, songs of longing; lay dway than gat; myin gin, music that makes horses dance; nat chin, songs used to worship the nat, Brumese spirits; yodaya, music introduced from Ayuthaya, talaing than, music adapted from the Mon people and bole, which is a songs of sorrow.
