A genggong is a type of jaw harp that is used in the music of Bali. The musical instrument is made up of a wooden frame and the tongue of the instrument cut from a piece of the leaf stem of the sugar palm. The left extreme of the musical instrument is held firmly against the check, while a string knotted to the right end of the instrument is jerked rhythmically to set the tongue of the instrument into motion. Various harmonics are manufactured from the instrument by pronouncing various vowels sounds.

Very much a folk musical instrument, this musical instrument was traditionally performed only as a solo musical instrument or with small number of other genggong as informal entertainment. Since the 1930s, this musical instrument has usually been featured in gamelan genggong, a larger ensemble of different versions of the musical instrument along with the suling and percussion musical instrument.
