The quijongo is made up of a bow 140
cm as the length of the instrument; it is produced of flexible wood with a
string stretched between the extremes of the musical instrument. At a point, a
third way of the way between the extremes, a jicara or calabaza gourd is
attached to function as a resonator. The sound of the instrument is produced by
striking the strings of the instrument with a stick, and the tone of the
instrument could be modulated by covering and uncovering the sound hole that is
in the resonator with the fingers of the hand, changing the tone by a fourth or
sixth. Occasionally, the musical instrument can be amplified by placing the
base of the bow on a separate box.
